The vision for a faster, smarter Nashville is beginning to take shape. The Boring Company’s proposed Music City LOOP would create a new underground transportation system that connects some of Nashville’s most important destinations with safe, congestion-free travel.
To help Nashvillians imagine what this future could look like, we’ve created a Google Earth flyover video tracing the route of the LOOP’s first phase — from Capitol Hill downtown to Nashville International Airport.
Starting at Capitol Hill
The first station begins beneath Capitol Hill, home to Tennessee’s state government. While the initial phase of the LOOP will predominantly serve visitors, once fully built out the network will provide direct service for commuters, visitors, and downtown workers alike.
A parking lot near Capitol Hill has already been cleared for use as a potential construction staging ground. It’s unlikely this will become the final passenger station, although it remains a possibility. What’s clear from every report to date is that a station somewhere near Capitol Hill will anchor the starting point of the Music City LOOP.
From here, sleek, all-electric LOOP vehicles would carry passengers quickly beneath surface traffic.
Rosa L. Parks Boulevard Corridor
From Capitol Hill, the route follows Rosa L. Parks Boulevard, providing connections to some of Nashville’s most exciting new developments. This includes Nashville Yards, the new Downtown YMCA, and the city’s newest and tallest skyscraper — all of which could one day be linked directly into the LOOP network.
Crossing Broadway and Downtown Hotels
The alignment then crosses Broadway, creating a direct tie to the heart of Nashville’s entertainment district. For tourists and visitors, this means a seamless connection from the airport or Capitol Hill directly into downtown nightlife, music venues, and honky-tonks.
Nearby, a cluster of major downtown hotels could be linked to LOOP stations, providing fast, reliable service for visitors arriving in Music City.
Convention Center Station
The next stop is the Convention Center Station, located just steps from Broadway, the Music City Center, and Nashville’s downtown business district. This hub will be a critical link for visitors, commuters, and convention-goers, offering predictable travel in a climate-controlled environment, unaffected by surface congestion.
Lafayette Street and Pie Town
Leaving downtown, the route follows Lafayette Street into the Pie Town neighborhood. This area is ripe for redevelopment. With upzoning, Pie Town could accommodate taller buildings, more housing, and greater density — all supported by direct LOOP connections back to the city center and the airport.
Murfreesboro Pike Corridor
As Lafayette becomes Murfreesboro Pike, the route enters a corridor with enormous untapped potential. With thoughtful planning, Murfreesboro Pike could deliver more affordable workforce housing, linked directly to jobs, entertainment, and transit.
Fast, easy access to the LOOP would make this corridor one of the most attractive areas for transit-oriented growth in Nashville — unlocking new opportunities for residents and businesses alike.
Nashville International Airport
Finally, the route arrives at Nashville International Airport (BNA). In its simplest form, tunnel entrances could connect directly to the existing Uber and Lyft pickup and drop-off terminal. Alternatively, a custom-built LOOP station with direct terminal access could provide an even more seamless experience.
Either way, travelers will benefit from a stress-free, traffic-free ride between BNA and downtown — one of the most important mobility upgrades in Music City’s future.
A Foundation for the Future
This first phase is only the beginning. Once operational, the LOOP could expand across Nashville, reshaping how the city grows and moves. From commuter access to tourist convenience, from redevelopment opportunities in Pie Town to affordable housing potential along Murfreesboro Pike — the LOOP has the power to transform Nashville into a city that is faster, cleaner, and smarter.
