When will the
Music City Loop open?

The current public target, the milestones that still matter, and what could move the schedule.

The current target is the end of 2026

Tennessee officials said in February 2026 that the first segment of the Music City Loop was expected to be operational by the end of 2026. Earlier public statements had described an opening as early as fall 2026.

Those statements are targets, not guarantees. The opening date depends on construction progress, station readiness, systems integration, safety testing and final approvals.

What needs to happen first

Tunneling must advance far enough to support the first operating segment, stations must be completed and connected, vehicles and control systems must be integrated, and the system must complete whatever testing and approval process is required before carrying passengers.

Why the date could change

Large infrastructure projects can shift because of geology, construction sequencing, property agreements, utility conflicts, permitting, procurement or testing. That is why LOOP Nashville treats the end-of-2026 date as the current official target rather than a fixed opening day.

What to watch next

The strongest signals will be station completion, public operating details, safety testing, hiring for operations and a more specific opening announcement from Tennessee or The Boring Company.
